Planning is underway for the owners of Great Thickthorn Farm and Purepower to build a facility in Bedfordshire that will provide sustainable renewable energy for the local area for the next 20 – 25 years. The proposal includes a 4.5MW plant that will use advanced technology to generate electricity from wood fuels and will have the capability to accept around 40,000 tonnes of waste wood per annum.
New employment opportunities will be created in fuel preparation and handling, along with the new plant operation. A number of green credentials have been incorporated into the new waste reception and pyrolysis building which has been designed to respond to the local vernacular architecture which includes a green roof.
